Cyclische ontwikkeling

Tot nu toe lijkt het erop dat de ontwikkeling van een land een vast patroon volgt, waar eerst het accent op landbouw ligt, daarna op industrie en daarna op informatie en communicatie.
Maar wellicht is dat geen progressieve ontwikkeling, maar een cyclische - dus dat in tijden van voedselcrisis en schaarste een nieuwe golf landbouwontwikkelingen starten, ten koste van onrendabele of schadelijke industrie en woekerende onrendabele financiele virtuele geldstromen.

Why are electrons called to be 'negative'?

Why is the charge of an electron called 'negative'? Since charge is defined by the number of electrons, it would be more logical to call electrons 'positive'. In that way, a current would flow from + to -. In physics a positive charge is due to the abscence of electrons - ain't that strange?
How is this idea of negative charge born? Could it be the other way around just as easy? To what reference frame it is negative?

Waarom wordt een elektron eigenlijk als negatief bestempeld? In alle mij bekende situaties is het elektron iets tastbaars en is positieve lading een gebrek aan elektronen. Logischerwijs zou dan juist het electron positief genoemd moeten worden, zodat de stroom ook van plus naar min stroomt.
Ik realiseer me dat dit een fundamentele kwestie is, maar ik zou graag willen weten hoe bepaald is dat het elektron negatief is, en ten opzichte waarvan. Of had een elektron net zo goed positief benoemd kunnen worden, en een gebrek aan elektronen negatief?

Meta time

The recent discussions about neutrino's travelling faster than light, 

made me remember my 'meta time' concept. 

Warning: I am an artist, not a physicist (although I have a strong interest in science).

I hope to clarify my idea by two illustrations - one of the classic way to think about an event in time/space, and one of the add-on I was thinking about.

Below is a visualisation of the 'light cone', 

a traditional way of visualising an event in time/space (4d).

The second figure is my visualisation of what I call 'meta time'. In this model, time is deformed along a helix, where ordinary time (represented by the 4 dimensional light cone) follows the curve of the helix, while meta time (a 5th dimension?) is pointing in the direction of the axis of the helix.

The specific shape of the helix represents some sort combined cycle and progression. This allows ordinary time to come close to events that occured earlier, from a meta time perspective (time shortcut).
